One-horned rhino killed in Assam

A one-horned rhino is suspected to have been poached in Assam’s Manas National Park, official sources said Wednesday.

Forest guards recovered the carcass of the full grown male rhino from Bhuyanpara forest range in the park with its horn chopped off.

A total of 22 rhinos have been brought to the park from both Kaziranga National Park and Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary since 2008.

The sources said a hunt was on for the poachers. Manas National Park was declared a World Heritage Site in 1985 by Unesco.
