One held with truckload of beef fat

Hyderabad, November 18: One person has been arrested here on charges of supplying a truckload of beef fat to Guwahati for the purpose of mixing it in edible oils, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police yesterday arrested Mohammed Abdul Hafeez, a retired bank employee representing Deccan Trading Company, along with a lorry containing 1,000 tins of beef fat which were to be dispatched to Guwahati, for mixing it in edible oils, which can be hazardous and dangerous to life, Kalapathar police said.

“Another 1,800 tins of beef fat were seized from his (Hafeez) godown at Alibagh here,” Kalapathar Inspector of Police S Khaja Moinuddin said.

Efforts are on to nab two other accused — Mohammed Abdul Razzak and Mohammed Abdul Hameed — both brothers of Hafeez, who are still at large, he said.

Further investigations were underway.
