The Cyber Crime Police here on Thursday arrested a person, who allegedly sent abusive messages by degrading the complainant’s character through FB committing the offence of stalking.
The police said they received a complaint on February 24 from one Rani, 22 (name changed) stating that one Rajashekar Goud Malyala has been harassing her on Face book by texting inappropriately (her FB profile picture was described abusively) and Stocking her and degrading her character and harassed her on FB. She immediately complained to SHE team on face book and emailed to cybercell_hyd@hyd.appolice.gov.in on February 18.
The arrested person Malyala Rajashekar Goud has a FaceBook account. While browsing, he found profile of Rani with her photo and sent a friendly request to that profile which was accepted. Since then, he started texting on her profile. But she did not respond to his messages. Irritated with his one-sided follow-up, he decided to harass her. In February this year, he sent abusive messages by degrading her character on Face book. When arrested and interrogated, the accused confessed to his crime. As such, the police registered a case against the accused under Nirbhay Act as well as the existing IT sections. (NSS)
