This is a case of Identity theft by creating a fake facebook account and sending abusive/defamatory emails through his facebook account. The accused Rapolu Prabhakar Rao uploaded complainant’s daughter photo as profile picture of face book account and also sent some abusive and unobjectionable messages from his facebook account to her relatives. And there by caused annoyance to the complainant and his family.
The facts of the case are that Sri Gaddam Srinivas lodged a complainant stating that, he came to know that some unknown person has created a fake Facebook profile on the name of Shree Wardhan and put his daughter’s picture as profile picture to that account. He not only uploaded his daughter’s picture but also uploading abusive, naked pictures of women. Through that profile he has been sending wrong information to other Facebook accounts which are there in his daughter friends list and also sending friend requests to them. The accused also sent defamatory messages about his daughter character to niece (Facebook account) which are causing annoyance to him and his family members. He requested for necessary action. Basing on the complaint, a case was registered u/s 66 (A, C & D) IT Act 2000.
During the course of investigation, examined the complainant and also recorded the details statements. Also obtained the registration cum log details of fake facebook account: Sree Wardhan and facebook account: Rudra Prabhu from Facebook and the IP addresses. The details furnished by Service Provider reveals that, user detail s belong to Mr. Sandeep R, C3-157, Ist Floor, Huda Colony, Chandanagar, Cyberabad with MAC address as a4:ba:db:ce:f0:da. On verification of the details it reveals that the facebook account and IP address details used by the accused Rapolu Prabhakar Rao, immediately he was taken into custody. On verification it revealed that the accused son R. Sandeep aged about 22 yrs, working as employee in pvt firm fell in love with the victim Jhansi Laxmi (26) in a span of one month of his joining in the company. The accused’s son did not heed to his requests to wait for some more time and settle down in job and also financially and thereafter can go for marriage. Since the accused’s son Sandeep got annoyed with his parents and left the house in the month of November 2nd week, 2013 and didn’t return home. Due to vengeance towards the victim the accused R. Prabhakar Rao intentionally sent abusive, objectionable and indecent matter to the facebook account of: Renuka Devi G from his facebook account: Rudra Prabhu and uploaded her picture as his another facebook profile photo: Shree Wardhan and also uploaded some obscene photo’s.
The case has been investigated by Sri. S. Jayaram, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime PS, assisted by K Srinivas, SI of Police, D. Pratap Reddy, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad. C.V. Anand, I.P.S, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad; appreciated the work of the officers in detecting the case and arresting the accused. (INN)
