Tehran, January 12: The body of a fisherman is found off the coast of Iran’s Bandar Lengeh harbor as the search continues for two others who were in the same boating accident.
“A fishing boat accident in Bandar Lengehhas left one man dead and two others missing,” head of the Marine Rescue Coordination Center at the Ports and Shipping Department of Iran’s southern Province of Hormozgan announced on Monday.
“After the marine search and rescue center was notified, it sent out a signal to all passing vessels in the region, and subsequently two of the crew members were rescued by a fishing boat,” Saleh Fakheri explained.
Fakheri added that the Fisheries Department had sent out 4 motorboats and 2 fishing vessels to look for the boat’s five passengers.
He said that the body of one of the men had been found by another fishing vessel. The official added that the search continued for the other two missing fisherman.
The men first went missing 12 miles from the harbor when their boat split into two while they were heading out to sea.
Reports indicate that the two rescued fisherman, receiving medical care at a nearby hospital, are in critical condition.
