Dubai, March 01: Dubai Police recorded 170 traffic accidents during the rains in Dubai yesterday, according to Colonel Omer Abdulla Al Shamsi, Director of the Command Room. He said that 133 accidents were minor, 16 moderate and 21 serious. Also, the Operations Room received 3,415 phone calls during the rain.
He said a woman died due to an accident at the India Pavilion in Global Village. Thirteen others were injured, with four sustaining moderate injuries and eight with minor injuries
Saeed Ali Bin Redha, CEO of Global Village, which was closed on Sunday, said: “We also confirm that an incident occurred on Saturday evening due to the extreme and unexpected weather conditions, when an element of the Indian Pavilion entrance fell. As a result of this accident, 14 people were taken to hospital by ambulance where one of the injured later died. The management of Global Village extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and its sympathy to the injured and their families and remains available to assist them.”
“Global Village management is working closely with Dubai police and other concerned authorities to assist them with their investigations.” .
