New Delhi :A labourer was killed and nine others injured after a roof of a two-storeyed under-construction godown collapsed tonight in Alipur area in north Delhi, even as operations are on to rescue few others feared trapped in the debris.
The body of a man was pulled out of the debris even as rescue work is on at the accident site, a Fire Department official said.
The roof of the godown located on National Highway-1, which had been laid today only, caved in at around 8.30 pm. Nine labourers were injured and a few others are still feared trapped, DCP (Outer Delhi) Vikramjit Singh said.
The injured are being rushed to nearby hospitals including Maharaja Harishchandra Hospital in Narela.
The area in Boodhpur falls under the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and NDMC official have also rushed in their rescue and engineering team to the site.
“As of now, we have received information that the roof of a godown in Alipur has collapsed,” a senior NDMC official said.
