One arrested for robbery at jewellery shop in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, October 11: One person was today arrested in connection with the Rs 15 lakh robbery at a jewellery shop in posh Banjara Hills locality in the city.

Bikas Abrial was taken into custody at Kothur in Mahabubnagar district when he was returning from Bangalore, City Police Commissioner A K Khan told reporters.

Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1.42 lakh in cash were recovered from him, he said adding he was one of the four private security guards deployed at the shop.

The four, armed with knives and iron rods, barged into the shop on October 7 and decamped with gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 15 lakh after tying hands of shop owner and four other employees, Khan said.

Of the four, three hail from Nepal and the fourth suspect was from Assam.
