Raipur, October 14: A person has been arrested here with fake currency having face value of Rs six lakh, while another involved in the alleged racket managed to escape, police said today.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested Sanjay Kumar Bhoi from MG Road area in the city and recovered fake currency of Rs six lakh from him, SP Raipur, Amit Kumar, told PTI, adding, alleged gang leader Johatram Yadav gave police the slip.
The duo was trying to pump fake currency into the market ahead of Diwali, he said.
Police recovered four hundred fake notes each of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 from Sanjay’s bag.
Fake notes were printed from scanning and could be easily detected, Kumar said.
