New Delhi, January 11: Once bitten, twice shy. After being caught in a controversy over remarks on Jawaharlal Nehru’s foreign policy, Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor today said “as you say I speak with conviction and I am sure I will be appropriately quoted and not misquoted as I have the script”.
He was delivering the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial lecture here.
Tharoor found in a controversy for allegedly agreeing with Lord Bhikhu Parekh at the Indian Council of World Affairs on Friday where the latter had criticised Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi for their “negative” impact on India’s foreign policy.
Angry over the reports, Tharoor had claimed the media had misquoted him and demanded they issue a correction.
