In a bonanza to its employees ahead of ‘Onam’ festival, the LDF government in Kerala on Wednesday decided to sanction a bonus of Rs 3,500 to employees with a monthly salary of up to Rs 22,000. The decision was taken at the weekly cabinet meeting which also sanctioned a festival allowance of Rs 2,400 to those who were not entitled for bonus, an official release said.
The Cabinet also decided to enhance the relief amount which can be sanctioned by the Chief Minister, Revenue Minister and District Collector from the CM’s Relief Fund. While the Chief Minister can sanction up to Rs three lakh against the present Rs one lakh, the Revenue Minister can order relief up to Rs 25,000 from the present Rs 5,000. The district collectors’ can sanction up to Rs 10,000, the release said.
