The CBI Special Court on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi till July 6.
The special court while extending Srilakshmi’s remand directed the investigation agency to file charges against her in connection with the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. The court came down heavily on the CBI counsel for frequently seeking extension of judicial remand without filing charge sheet against Srilakshmi. “How many times we have to extend her judicial remand,” the court asked the CBI.
“If the probing agency fails to file charge sheet, the court would have to take a decision on releasing Srilakshmi soon,” the court observed.
The CBI arrested Srilakshmi in the OMC illegal mining case and was named as the sixth accused. She is presently lodged in Chanchalguda Women’s Jail. (INN)
