Omar meets Rajnath, discusses Kashmir situation

New Delhi: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed the state’s law-and-order situation.

During the 30-minute meeting, they discussed ways to bring back normalcy and peace in Jammu and Kashmir which is in turmoil following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani in an encounter.

Omar also requested that the security forces should be asked to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with protestors, sources said.

He thanked Singh for sending a team of doctors to the Valley for treatment of those injured in the violent protests against Wani’s killing.

Kashmir has been on edge as 36 people lost their lives in violent protests which started following the killing of the militant on Friday last.
