Omar lauds Muslim-Sikh amity in J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today lauded the amity between Muslims and Sikhs in the state, saying it needs to be strengthened and passed on to future generations.

“We have inherited the philosophy of ‘Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itihaad’ (Hindu, Muslim and Sikh unity) as a legacy (from Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah) and we should nurture and transmit it to future generations with a commitment,” Omar said in his message to the Sikh community on Guru Hargobind Singh’s birthday.

The Chief Minister extended his greetings to the Sikh community and wished peace and prosperity for the state and the country.

He said all religions preach justice, human values, amity and compassion.

“We should contribute to help create a society based on justice and equality. Human values and amity should be our benchmark in all fields of activities,” he added.

The Chief Minister said cordial relations between Sikhs and the majority community here has been significant.
