Omar Abdullah announces reservation for people living at International Border

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced special reservations in all state-run institutions for residents living in areas adjoining the International Border, which India shares with Pakistan, with a special emphasis on the police force.

Speaking at a relief camp that he was visiting, which had been set up for the victims of the ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Abdullah said, “Nowadays, the International Border sees as many cases of ceasefire violations by Pakistan as Line of Control (LoC) areas do.

Thus, along the pattern of the reservation for the residents near the LoC , we will provide reservation for people living in all areas adjoining the International Border.”

“We have also decided to establish camps for your animals also with facilities of fodder, water and veterinary doctors,” he added.

Pakistani troops, firing along the International Border last night, injured eight persons, including three BSF jawans.

Almost the whole stretch of the International Border, including Samba, Hiranagar, Ramgarh, Arnia, R S Pura, Kanachak and Pargwal has been affected by the firing. (ANI)
