Muscat, November 16: Sultan Qaboos bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman outlined his country’s vision and future plans, during the annual meeting of the Council of Oman Monday.
The Sultan stressed his continuous care for the participation of Omani women in the country’s development.
“We have given our full attention, since the beginning of this era, to the participation of Omani women.”
“We have provided them with education, training and employment opportunities and supported their role and status in society. We have also stressed the need for their contribution in various development spheres.
“We have facilitated this through regulations and laws that guarantee their rights and explain their duties in order to be able to develop their inner abilities, expertise and skills to build their country and raise its status,” he said.
Sultan Qaboos promised that this care will continue, calling upon Oamni women “to take advantage of all the opportunities being provided, in order to prove their capability and show their ability to overcome obstacles that might come their way.”
The Sultan also called for more investment in Oman.
“Although the State is carrying out most of these projects, we call on investors, citizens and foreigners to participate in them to the benefit of all, and they in turn will be provided with all the necessary facilities,” he said.
The Sultan stressed that the country’s development has continued to go steadily ahead towards its goal t in every field.
The country has “taken determined steps to open the doors to development and progress in the different spheres of modern life while creating equal opportunities for all the citizens of this country without exception,” he said
The state has set itself a wide range of target for the future, “which are designed to serve the citizens, develop their potential and broaden their expertise and skills, while creating greater job opportunities for them so that they can earn a living for themselves and their families and contribute to their community’s development,” he added.
On the country’s foreign policy, the Sultan said that it is “based on the establishment of security, peace, and happiness for all mankind.”
