Oman to launch summer campaign to attract tourists

Muscat, March 01: The government of Oman in partnership with the tourism and hospitality industry of the Sultanate has devised a new strategic promotional campaign to attract tourists during the summer.

The new summer campaign which offers highly competitive 6 and 7 day holiday packages, return air fares and accommodation will run from April 12th to October 1st, 2010 and will be officially launched at ITB Berlin, Europe’s largest travel show from 10-12 March.

Usually, tourists shy away from Oman during the summer because of the heat and humidity with temperatures crossing the 40 degree Celsius mark. But the Ministry of Tourism has got together the State carrier Oman Air and Muscat’s 4 and 5 star hotels to attract visitors from the UK and Europe with highly competitive packages.

“The campaign, under the theme “Now Is the Time”, has been made possible by a new level of positive cooperation and focus unseen in the industry before. As a result, we have an exiting and highly competitive campaign to build on earlier summer campaigns,” said Dr Rajiha bint Abdulameer bin Ali, Oman’s Minister of Tourism.

According to Dr Rajiha, the Ministry of Tourism will provide special funding to support the campaign. This will be used by travel companies in terms of promotional spend, so that overall promotional efforts will be doubled.
