Oman: Ban on “expat visas” for these 87 job roles extended

Muscat: Ministry of Manpower (MoM), Oman extended the temporary ban on “expat visas” for 87 job roles.

According to the report published in Times of Oman, the period of the ban is extended for six-month starting from 30th July 2018.

As per online statement of the Ministry, “The period of the ban on permits to bring temporary expatriate manpower into private sector establishments for the professions specified in Ministerial Decision No. 38/2018 shall continue for a period of six months from July 30, 2018”.

The list of job roles as reported by Times of Oman are as follows:

It may be mentioned that this ban was imposed due to increase in expatriate workers in these 87 job roles.

Applauding the step taken by the government, Mr. Hilal Al Sarmi, Shoura member said that the decision will lead to more employment to Omanis in the private sector. He also wants more professions to be added to the list.
