Washington: Actress Olivia Munn has been roped in to host the 23rd annual Critics’ Choice Awards on January 11.
The ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ star is taking over the hosting duty from comedian TJ Miller, who had hosted the combined film and TV awards show the past two years.
Joey Berlin, president of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, said in a statement that her work as an actress along with her activism give her a powerful voice, making her the perfect candidate to lead the night.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Olivia hosting this year’s ceremony, and know that she will deliver an entertaining and sharp-witted evening to everyone in the room, and the viewers at home,” he said, as reported by E! Online.
“Beyond her skills as an actress, Olivia’s work as an activist within the industry gives her a powerful voice, making her the perfect candidate to lead this night honoring the best and brightest in film and television.”
Munn has become one of the most prominent film-industry voices in the #MeToo movement since coming forward in November with accusations of sexual misconduct against director Brett Ratner.
The 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards will include a tribute to ‘Wonder Woman’ star Gal Gadot, who will receive the #SeeHer Award presented by director Patty Jenkins. (ANI)
