Old Eidgah and Muslim graveyard exempted from Master Plan in Karimnagar

The beautification work of Karimnagar town is in full swing. A Master Plan has been prepared to implement the development programmes.

Road widening work is being undertaken for Kaman Road to Jafery Masjid. All the shops and houses have been dismantled which were coming in the way of road expansion. There is an old Eidgah and attached to it is a Muslim graveyard. The personalities who donated Eidgah as wakf property are buried in the attached graveyard. The planners have planned to dismantle Eidgah and the Muslim graveyard for the beautification of the city. The persons responsible for managing Eidgah and the graveyard were also consulted in this regard. All the Muslim leaders and scholars opposed the plan of dismantling Eidgah and graveyard. They represented the matter to the Govt. also. Chief Minister of A.P. granted exemption to Eidgah and the graveyard from the Master Plan.
Some political leaders and the organizers of various associations of Karimnagar have been exerting pressure on C.M for dismantling Eidgah and graveyard. It is being reported in many newspapers every day. It may be noted that, recently an incident of dismantling of Dr Ambedkhar’s states came to limelight. All the Dalit leaders jointly represented the matter to the Govt. and got the culprits punished.

It will be a tragic situation if the old graves are dismantled to lay a road.

Mr. Zulfiquar Ali Javeed, President of Peace and Social Welfare Society of Karimnagar appealed fo the people of Karimnagar not to make it a serious issue. He said that it is a great sin to dismantle any place of worship or the graveyard. He also said that our constitution also doesn’t permit anyone to dismantle any place of worship. It is the responsibility of Govt. of India to preserve the peaceful atmosphere of Karimnagar city.
