Old city under tight security arrangements following blasts

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police in old city Hyderabad on the occasion of Friday prayers. Additional forces were deployed at important locations.

Following blast at Dilsukhnagar on Thursday evening in which 17 people were killed police maintained high alert in the city. In the wake of bandh called by BJP on Friday, south zone police had cordoned off the sensitive areas.

Police removed fruit vendors’ push-carts from Makkah masjid area and tourists were not allowed to enter Masjid before Friday prayers. Nearly 5000 people offered namaz at Makkah Masjid. No article was allowed to be taken inside the masjid. Police heaved a sigh of relief as Friday prayer passes off peacefully at Makkah Masjid.
