Old City peaceful; Adilabad, Nizamabad remains shut

Most of the areas in the Old City of Hyderabad on Wednesday wore a deserted look following an unofficial bandh call given by the supporters of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen over the arrest of party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi n the alleged hate speeches case.

Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed in many areas why the RTC and auto-rickshaws too did not plied on the Old City roads till afternoon. Large number of security personnel has been deployed, especially in the communally sensitive areas. Several platoons of Rapid Action Force and other para-military forces have been deployed in several parts of the city. Some areas in the new city too remained partially closed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, shops and businesses remained shut in the Adilabad and Nizambad districts on Wednesday following a bandh call given by the MIM’s district units. Tension prevailed in some areas of Nirmal when MIM workers attacked the vehicles of media personnel who went to cover the court proceedings of Akbaruddin Owaisi. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in all the towns in both the districts. (INN)
