Old City Metro Rail JAC pitches for metro rail in old city; holds Owaisi brothers responsible for change the alignment

Hyderabad: Protesting against the change of alignment of Metro Rail project in old city, Mr. Rashed Shareef said that Hyderabad MP and his brother are responsible for this. Rashid Shareef had contested against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi in the 2014 Parliamentary election. He was addressing an all-party press conference at TRS Bhavan, old city. Old city was to witness an economic revolution which was prevented thanks to the Owaisi brothers, he said. He requested Chief Minister not to listen to MIM.

“We want to remind our party that the Old City needs the Hyderabad Metro Rail corridor passing through it. When our Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has done so much for the city and the State, then a metro line here should not be a big problem,” he said.

Rashed Shareef announced that an all-party rally will be taken out from TRS Bhavan to Falaknuma on November 27.

Mr. ET Narsimha, City Secretary CPI said that the residents here have been demanding this for long. Metro rail is inevitable for the prosperity of old city. He expressed surprise that the party which claims to be the champion of Muslims and old city development is opposing metro rail in old city, making it backward.

Cutting across religious and political affiliations, representatives of the CPI, Congress, TDP, BJP and members of civil society attended the meeting held under the banner of Old City Metro Rail Joint Action Committee.
