Bhopal : The Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) workers staged a protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Madhya Pradesh here on Sunday over the alleged rape of a 28-year-old woman by an Ola cab driver.
The protestors raised slogans against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and criticised his government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
“It is very disheartening that the Madhya Pradesh Government is providing benefits to these application based companies and is not taking action against them,” said one of the protestors.
Meanwhile, the Ola Cabs today distanced itself from the driver who allegedly raped the woman.
Ola in a statement made it clear that the driver was not logged on its platform at the time of the incident.
The cab driver allegedly raped the woman passenger in Bhopal when she took the taxi service to return home after work on December 29.
The cabbie reportedly took the woman to a deserted location between Bairagarh and Gandhi Nagar and raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. The accused, who was working with Ola for past few months, has been arrested. It is being said that he was known to the victim. (ANI)
