Ola controversy: Company says have ‘zero tolerance for such behaviour’

New Delhi, Nov. 4 : Hours after an Ola cabbie was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger, the company on Wednesday said that they have ‘zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour from drivers-partners registered with us’.

“We have terminated the said vehicle and the driver from the Ola platform after reaching out to the customer to take her feedback. We have zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour from drivers-partners registered with us,” said a statement issued by the company.

“We have also assured full support on sharing all required information like driver details, GPS coordinate etc., if need be, to help her pursue this. Ola is committed to the safety of its users at all times,” the statement added.

Ola Cabs landed in a controversy after one of its drivers was charged for allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger and her daughter.

The driver was booked for outraging a woman’s modesty, threatening and violating a public order. He was, however, granted bail later.

According to the police, the incident took place at about 9 p.m. on Monday, when the complainant was returning home, along with her daughter.

During this argument, the victim noticed that the driver’s photo was different from what showed on the app. When she asked him for his ID card, he refused. She then insisted on speaking to the cab operator to report the misbehaviour, but the driver instead connected her to the vehicle owner.

The owner tried to convince the woman not to call the cops, but the driver defiantly said she was free to dial the police.

The woman then dialed 100 after which the driver asked her to get off the car and tried to flee. However, the women refused and raised an alarm. Soon the cab was intercepted by PCR cops. (ANI)
