Chairman Telangana Political JAC Prof. Kodandaram visited Osmania Hospital on Monday. On the occasion persons belonging to various fields and leaders of various organisations accompanied him. Earlier JAC steering committee meeting was held with concerned doctors and Para medical staff at the office of Hospital superintendent under the supervision of Prof. Kodanda Ram.
However the meeting was marred by heated exchanges among the members of medical fraternity. Two groups of doctors sparred against each other on the issue of relocating the OGH departments in some hospital and demolition the building to enable the government build a high-rise complex.
Later addressing a press conference Kodanda Ram told that the delegation of JAC Steering Committee will make representation with the chief minister. During the conference he also hinted that most of the patients Osmania General Hospital belonged to old city and it was a gift from Nizam government for public health. No one can deny its beautiful structural design.
Meanwhile, a team comprising conservation architects, structural engineers and members of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) visited OGH on Monday to study the strength of the building.
The team found that the walls have no cracks and the jack arch roof too is in good condition. Although there are some maintenance issues but there is no need for demolishing the structure. The team observed that the lack of maintenance for the last two decades had led to the sorry state of affairs. The building could be easily repaired and the cost would be less than demolishing the building.
