Officials review security arrangements for elections

City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that the striking forces can reach any polling station within 10 minutes of time.

District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Anurag Sharma, along with Election Observers and senior Police Officials held a meeting with regard to arrangements to be made for the ensuing general elections 2014. Responding to the query of Nagambika Devi, General Observer for Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency, the Commissioner of Police said that the Police Department is ready to attend any eventualities for 24×7 while conducting the general elections 2014 in a systematic manner.

The Commissioner has informed that the Hyderabad City Police could seize Rs. 77 crores in this election period which is the highest in the entire Country and they have filed 78 FIRs for use of loud speakers without permission. The Police have given weapon permissions only to the National Rifle Association and for Bank security as per the Election Commission of India guidelines and further informed that the Hyderabad City Police is very aggressive in their approach.

At this point, the City Police is concentrating on 15th April on which there will be a massive procession in connection with Hanuman Jayanthi where 30,000 to 40,000 people will participate, the Commissioner said. He also said that there was communal tension during the years 2011 and 2012 during the same procession.

He further said that there are 802 polling stations which are considered has sensitive in 302 locations, there is a chance of intimidation in 451 in 451 places and they are thoroughly checking the hate speeches of the contesting of various political parties.

The general Observers Vinod Kumar Katela, Harjeeth Singh, Baleshwar Singh, and Suresh Kumar, Anjani Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Mukesh Kumar Meena, District Collector & Returning Officer, Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency, Rahul Bojja, Special Commissioner, GHMC, E. Sridhar, Joint Collector & Returning Officer, Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency and all Deputy Commissioners of Police of Hyderabad City Police have participated in the meeting. (INN)
