Officials inspect Mecca Masjid restoration works

A team of senior officials on Tuesday inspected the ongoing conservation and restoration works of historic Mecca Masjid.

Advisor to Telangana Government (Minority Welfare) A.K. Khan, Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel and officials visited the Mecca Masjid to check the first phase of works. AK Khan inspected the top floor and expressed his satisfaction on the work done by the contractor. Later, he inspected the undergoing Cess Pool fountain work and suggested a few changes to the work.

Speaking to media persons, the Advisor informed that Government of Telangana, for the first time in the history of Mecca Masjid, has sanctioned a huge amount of Rs. 8.48 crore for works of conservation and restoration.

The Director, Archaeology has called the tenders for restoration works in this regard and had selected one rich skilled contractor who has experience of heritage building conservation and restoration works.

Archaeology Director Vishaiakshi, Mecca Masjid Superintendent Md. Abdul Khadeer Siddiqui and other staff were also present during the inspection. (INN)
