Officials discuss road safety and women security in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Road safety measures, safety and security to women were among the items discussed in Convergence meeting held at Police Commissionerate here on Saturday.

The convergence meeting headed by GHMC Commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar, during the discussion police officials asked GHMC to provide street lighting particularly at institutions, coaching centers and work places in order to prevent chain snatching and road accidents.

Further the police officials asked the HMR authorities to shift the Bus Shelters which are near junctions causing traffic jams due to stopping of buses near junctions and also to display sign boards of speed limit.

Under Metro Rail stations to close the gaps at central medians and provide grills in order to prevent the pedestrians crossing Zig Zag causing free flow of traffic and to encourage usage of Foot over bridges at HMR
stations by displaying signage boards.

About identified 52 black spots where repeated accidents are occurring it is decided to make joint inspection on re-engineering the road to prevent accidents. About beggars
in the city especially at junctions causing free flow traffic and accidents are occurring.

Zonal Commissioner Harichandana said the beggars are being shifted to night shelter homes with the help of police but still problem continues. The police officials agreed to handover the vacant place of old police station YMCA for taking up beautification.

Moreover, revised project report prepared on the stretch of 11 Kms distance from Mehadipatham to Gachibowli road. The HMWS&SB informed that all the points leakage would be rectified shortly. Regarding road cutting issues in CRMP areas the Chief Engineer Zia uddin asked the officials to contact with concerned agencies.

Hyderabad City Police, Commissioner, Anjani Kumar, Addl. CPs. Law & Order Chauan, Add. CP Traffic Anil Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Joint Collector, HYD Ravi, Zonal Commissioners Musharaff Ali, Siktha Patnaik, CC, Devender Reddy, officials from Metro Rail, HMWS&SB Transco, Revenue have participated in the meeting.
