Hyderabad, August 303: Release of excess water that is hampering irrigation works from the SRSP dam is being taken up on an extensive note.
Expressing serious concern at the low depression in Bay of Bengal, irrigation officials wanted the Chief Minister to step up operations.
Incessant rains, particularly in Nizamabad and Adilabad districts have resulted in quick inflows into the reservoir.
The SCIWAM Committee had last fortnight recommended the release of water through Flood Flow Canal (FFC) after attaining the storage level of 1085 Ft. The project authorities released water through FFC on Saturday.
There is a deficit of 30 TMC as on August 26 in SRSP, which filled up following heavy rains in the catchment area resulting in surplus flow through spillway. There is no affect on the khariff operation below LMD.
Last week, water was released from LMD for filling up tanks under Stage-II ayacut covering Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam districts.
