Official arrested for accepting bribe in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, October 20: An official of the District Education Office (DEO) in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district was arrested today by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The amount was recovered from the I V Prasad Rao, Senior Assistant in the DEO, after he received the bribe from the complainant for doing an official favour, an ACB release said today.

The accused is being produced before a special court and investigations are on, the release said.

Meanwhile, the special court convicted one P Nagappa, Secretary, Kogira Panchayat of Anantapur district to one year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1000.

The accused officer was held on October 4, when he demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 2000 as bribe from the complainant for issue of Pattadar pass book, the release said.
