Odisha govt to build houses for 13,000 families affected by cyclone Titli

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government-led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has decided to provide houses for all the 13,000 families, whose homes were damaged during cyclone Titli and subsequent floods.

In an official release, the state government said, “In cyclone Titli, under “Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana” the decision was taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.”

The Chief Minister has also asked all concerned departments to expedite the process and ensure transparency.
The state government will spend estimated Rs. 176 crore for the construction of these houses.

Incessant rainfall, consequent floods and severe cyclonic storm Titli that occurred on October 11 and October 12 caused an extensive damage to the houses, standing crops and plantations, thereby adversely affecting the farmers in the state of Odisha. The animal husbandry, fisheries, handloom and sericulture sectors were also affected severely.
