Communal tension sparked in Meerut on Wednesday after some objectionable images of Hindu gods and goddesses posted online.
Hindutva activists staged protest against this incident and demand arrest of those guilty and alleged that these visuals posted for disturbing peace in the country.
Meanwhile, fearing communal riots, police pickets have deployed across Meerut. In a report published in Mailtoday, City Superintendent of Police Om Prakash said: “Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident. The case has been handed over to the cyber crime team and we will arrest the culprits within five days.”
Civil Lines police station inspector Surya Kant Dwivedi said: “We are probing the case. But the visuals were posted by someone who used a fake identity.”
