Obama to visit Poland, Belgium, France in June

President Barack Obama will visit Poland, Belgium and France in June as part of ongoing consultations with US allies, the White House said Wednesday.

The growing Ukrainian crisis is expected to dominate the president’s tour, as Washington and its European allies are boosting their military presence in East Europe to allay growing concerns there, Xinhua reported.

In Brussels, Obama will meet other Group of Seven leaders for a summit on June 4-5, as the seven industrialised nations have decided to boycott a G8 summit slated for the same month in Russia ‘s Black Sea resort of Sochi following what they called Moscow’s ” illegal annexation” of Crimea from Ukraine in March.

G7 leaders met over Ukraine March 24 in The Hague on the sidelines of a nuclear security summit.

While in France, Obama will join commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the White House said.
