Obama prepares for State of the Union address

Washington, January 27: US President Barack Obama is preparing to deliver his first official State of the Union address on January 27, as the United States and the rest of the world waits in anticipation.

Pundits say Obama will talk about the unemployment rate, which does not seem to be going down, and what he has done so far done for the US economy in the State of the Union address.

There will probably be some talk of education reform, where the Obama administration is making progress.

While there will be requisite nods to climate change legislation and immigration reform, neither is expected to be a legislative priority this year.

David Axelrod, one of Obama’s top political advisers, said, “This president’s never going to stop fighting to create jobs, to raise incomes, and to push back on the special interests’ dominance in Washington and this withering partisanship that keeps us from solving problems.”

Many US citizens believe Obama’s upcoming State of the Union address will be more important than former president George Bush’s last three State of the Union speeches.

The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that 39% of the public thinks that Obama’s State of the Union address will be more important than previous addresses, 45% say it will be about as important, and 9% say it will be less important.
