NYC bus accident leaves 13 dead

Newyork, March 12: At least thirteen people have been killed and many others injured, as a tour bus overturned in the north of New York City.

The bus, which had 32 passengers onboard, reportedly slid into a sign pole in the southbound of New England Thruway in the Bronx on Saturday at 5:35 AM (10:35 GMT),

According to New York Fire Department, injured passengers were immediately taken to the St. Barnabas and Jacobi Hospitals in New York. Six of them are reported to be in a critical condition.

The bus, operated by the charter company World Wide Tours, was headed to Manhattan’s Chinatown neighborhood carrying passengers returning from the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

According to the driver, the bus was struck from behind as it entered the city around 5:30 a.m., New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said.

The bus began swerving, toppled and crashed into the support post for a highway sign indicating an exit,
