Nurses told to infuse confidence in patients

Kakinada, February 27: A two-day exhibition organised by the Aditya Nursing Academy students was inaugurated by college chairman and Anaparthi MLA N. Sesha Reddy here on Saturday. As many as 60 stalls were arranged in the exhibition, depicting various ailments incurred to human beings and their treatments.

Medical director of Apollo Hospitals C. Surya Prakasa Rao, who visited the exhibition, called upon the nursing students to work with dedication and determination in their future endeavours. He said nurses were expected to infuse confidence in patients and their relatives and help them get rid of their pressures by talking to them in detail with patience.

N. Sivasankar Reddy of Srinivasa Nursing Home said nurses could go close to the hearts of the patients than doctors, as their services were needed to the patients every minute.

Mr. Sesha Reddy expressed concern over the drop in number of students taking up nursing from Andhra Pradesh. “Over 80 per cent of nursing students are from Kerala. Though we have many institutions to provide qualitative training to nursing students, the interest levels of local students are very low,” he said.

He said there were bright career opportunist for qualified nurses in India and abroad and the rise in private hospitals helped nurses get better pay packs. Administrative officer of the academy Y.S.R. Rajeswari and others were present.
