Nursery teacher kills mother

New Delhi, June 03: A 26-year-old nursery school teacher, along with her boyfriend, allegedly bludgeoned and stabbed her mother to death with kitchen knives, a broken beer bottle and a pressing iron after they were caught together in her Paschim Vihar house in west Delhi, police claimed on Tuesday.

The murder took place last Thursday and was initially reported as the handiwork of robbers — a story allegedly cooked up by the daughter to save herself.

Cracking the case five days after the murder, police have arrested the accused, Sakshi Kapoor and Sunny Batra (20), a second year engineering student. On Thursday, the two were apparently alone in the house when Sakshi’s ‘‘disciplinarian’’ mother, Kiran Kapoor, 55, returned and caught them in a ‘‘compromising position’’. ‘‘Sunny tried to run away but Kiran caught him and started shouting at them. Sunny put his hand on Kiran’s mouth, dragged her to one of the bedrooms and pushed her on the bed. He then picked up a pressing iron and hit her on her head,’’ said JCP (southern range) Ajay Kashyap, revealing details from the duo’s confession.

‘‘Sakshi got kitchen knives, stabbed her mother and slit her left wrist. Sunny then broke a beer bottle which he had brought and stabbed Kiran. When they realized she was dead, Sakshi made up a story of robbery and gave some belongings, including cash and jewellery, to Sunny which he took away,’’ Kashyap said. Sakshi apparently got the idea from a TV crime serial.
