Number of H1N1 suspected cases reduced to 9 in AP hospital

Hyderabad, August 18: With the new guidelines in place to quarantine suspected cases of Swine Flu, the number of such cases at AP Chest Hospital has come down to nine, officials here said today.

Three previously confirmed cases are still undergoing treatment at the Hospital, they said.

Now cases which are severe in illness are being permitted to admission and testing at the Hospital, Superintendent AP Chest Hospital, Dr S V Prasad told PTI.

The guidelines are helpful to the Hospital as it can now concentrate on serious cases of Swine Flu, he said.

Earlier, the suspected cases with common influenza was also reporting to the Hospital and the resources were required to send their swab samples for tests to National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), he said.

As per the fresh guidelines of NICD every case need not to be put to test.

Since it is not possible to identify Swine Flu patient without tests, the guidelines are there to take moderate view of the symptoms.

If the case shows mild symptoms of Swine Flu then there is no need for doctors to panic, the guidelines said.
