Hyderabad, December 08: Visitors can breathe easy this time at the forthcoming Numaish (72nd All India Industrial Exhibition) as the number of stalls has been cut to provide more circulation area. The Numaish at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, will be held from January 1 to February 15.
“In view of heavy rush, particularly during weekends, we have decided to provide more circulation area. Earlier, there was no system to allot stalls. As a result, stalls were using more space than allotted to them. Now for the first time, we are using GIS (geographic information system) to allot stalls at the Exhibition Grounds to provide more space on walkways,” Exhibition Society secretary D Gangadhar Rao told TOI.
“We have taken pictures of the entire 18-acre ground and found a few bottlenecks like a few sheds, which have not been utilised for the past many years. Now, the society has decided to remove them and use the space either for putting up stalls or circulation area. Though, we have received over 3,000 applications for allotment of stalls, we have decided to put up only 2,300 stalls,” he said.
Also, maps giving information on location of stalls would be displayed on walkways so that visitors can save time.
Regarding security arrangements, he said a three-tier security system would in place. Door-frame-metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and closed circuit TVs would be put up at vulnerable points. To avoid traffic congestion near Gandhi Bhavan, ticket counters near Gate No. 1 would open inside the premises. Earlier, visitors used to buy tickets outside the venue and get into the Exhibition Grounds after security check.
