Hyderabad: Nandamuri Jaya Krishna, son of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao was sentenced to six months’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25 lakh by a court on Wednesday in a cheque bounce case.
According to sources, petitioner’s advocate S. Someswar Rao told the court that his client G.S. Narsing Rao had been running a canteen and cycle stand at the Rama Krishna theatre in Abids for 30 years. However N. Jaya Krishna who is the owner of the theatre signed a MoU with another party for construction of a multiplex on theatre land.
Since Jaya Krishna had to return the security deposit of Rs 27 lakh to Narsing Rao, he gave two cheques one for Rs 19 lakh and another for Rs 8 lakh to the later on June 15, 2015. However the cheques bounced and there was no response from Jaya Krishna. Hence Narsing Rao lodged a petition with the 10th Special Magistrate Court in Erramanzil under Section 138 of the NI Act.
The advocate further revealed that Justice K. Ravindra Singh sentenced Nandamuri Jaya Krishna to six months simple imprisonment and imposed a fine Rs 25 lakh. Of this Rs 19 lakh would have to be given to Narsing Rao.
As reported by DC Mr. Jaya Krishna later got bail from the court as the judge directed him to pay Rs 10,000 as security deposit and gave time to appeal before October 5.
