Mumbai, January 22: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) today said it has crossed the $ 500 million mark in the value of currency options traded.
Contracts worth nearly $ 509 million were traded in currency options on Friday. The number of contracts totalled 508,750, NSE said in a statement here.
The previous high was on January 17, when 322,205 contracts were traded, valued at $ 322 million, it said.
Last year, market regulator Sebi gave nod to the NSE and the BSE-backed United Stock Exchange for trading in currency options, which provide an alternative to investors for hedging against currency fluctuations.
