NRI workers in Kuwait face immense hardships

Several NRI workers belonging to Andhra Pradesh who are illegally residing in Kuwait are facing immense hardships these days. These are the workers who have arrived Kuwait without legal documents. They are counted among illegal residents. There are 42 such families who can neither leave Kuwait nor return to India. Kuwait government had issued general pardon for 6 months which will end on 30th of this month. During this period illegal foreign workers residing in Kuwait can legalize their stand or return to their country without fine or sentence. Recently scores of workers returned to India however 42 families are facing legal obstacles for leaving Kuwait as their Kuwait born children are deprived of any legal document hence they cannot leave the country.

Interestingly India too will not accept those children until their citizenship is settled. It is said that several NRI workers of Kadapa belonging to poor and middle class have called their wives on house maid visa or tourist visa and spent a long time here residing illegally meanwhile they produced children who neither have legal birth certificate nor any legal document. There are some couples among them who have performed love marriage in Kuwait they too don’t have certificates of their children.

Out of 42 families of Andhra Pradesh 38 belong to Kadapa district. Indian ambassador Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal who is dealing with these cases hoped that he would find solutions for the problems before the general pardon by Kuwait government is ended.
