NREGS staff ends strike

The ground level staff of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme on Sunday called off their three-day long strike following assurance by the State Government that their demands would be met soon.

The workers’ representatives had a meeting with NREGS Minister D Manikvara Prasada Rao at MLA Quarters on Sunday, wherein the minister assured that all their demands would be discussed and resolved by the Cabinet Sub-Committee which is scheduled to meet on April 3. He said most of the demands were related to the finance department and they would be resolved by holding negotiations with the Finance Department.

It may be mentioned that the ground level staff was on strike for the last three days to press for 12 demands including payment of salaries and regilarisation of services. (INN)
