Minister for Rural Development and NREGP Dokka Manikya Varaparasada Rao here on Sunday said that NREGP would be linked with agricultural works to save the small and marginal farmers in the State.
Speaking to the media, Dokka said that as per the decision of the Centre to link NREGP with agriculture, efforts were being made to implement it in the State also. Though 850 mandals have been declared drought hit, the poor and agricultural workers did not get working days under the NREGP in these mandals. He also claimed that positive signals were coming from all the districts in the implementation of NREGP scheme.
The minister exuded confidence that Pranab Mukherjee would win the Presidential election. The country is fortunate to have Pranab Mukherjee, who has deep knowledge on all issues being faced by the country, as President. There was need for introspection from lower to top levels in the party on the Congress defeat in the recent by-elections. (NSS)
