Hyderabad: After implementing National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, Union Govt. may implement it across India.
This will include geographical, demographic and biometric details of the citizens.
It may be mentioned that after the formation of 17th Lok Sabha, President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind in his address delivered on 20th June had said that the Govt. of India will start the process of registration of citizens. This will exclude Assam as the process of NRC is in vogue in the State.
Do Muslims need to worry if it is implemented across the country?
No one including the Muslims who have valid documents to prove their citizenship need to worry even if the NRC is implemented throughout the country.
Is the exercise an attempt to divert the attention from real issues?
Giving his views on the NRC, Mr. Mehmood Pracha, a lawyer claimed that the Government wants to divert the attention of the people from real issues by implementing such programs.
During an interview, Mr. Pracha said that the real issues are the slow growth rate and rise in unemployment.
He expressed concern over accumulation of the country’s wealth in the hands of a few people. Dismissing the concern of the Muslims over NRC, he said that there is no need to worry about its possible implementation.
