New Delhi: National Population Register (NPR) 2020 exercise is scheduled to be held between 1st April and 30th September this year. Enumerators will collect the data of the residents.
According to the report published in TOI, Home Ministry sources disclosed that providing details of Aadhaar, Passport Number, Voter ID and Driving License is mandatory if the resident possesses them.
On one hand, it seems that providing Aadhaar details is mandatory, on the other, it is found that Telangana has the highest number of Aadhaar cards with errors.
The state has an error percentage of 13.6 whereas, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, MP has 8.6, 5.5, 5.2, 5 error percentages respectively.
Experts blamed private enrolment agencies for mistakes. These agencies are hired by the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI).
Update Aadhaar details
In such a scenario, it is suggested that residents should consider updating their Aadhaar Cards before the commencement of the NPR exercise.
Although the enumerators will not ask any resident to produce documents including Aadhaar Card, it is good practice to keep the document up to date.
Maximum mistakes appear in names, addresses. In some cases, mobile numbers are not linked to Aadhaar Cards.
