Anyone who wants to take a look inside the White House can do it without going to Washington, D.C.
The White House and the Discovery Channel launched a series of virtual ‘field trips’ aimed at middle school and high school students that explore different facets of the mansion.
Classrooms can register as a unit on Discovery’s website, and each tour will be broadcast live before it is archived there.
According to Mashbale, Kori Schulman, director of online engagement for the Office of Digital Strategy, wrote in a White House blog post that they were looking at new ways to open the White House and engage with citizens online.
The series, which will run throughout 2014, is called “Of the People: Live from the White House”.
Each segment will showcase a different part of the first family’s abode.
According to Schulman’s post, future field trips will cover topics such as community service, climate change, foreign policy and science and technology, the report added. (ANI)
