Kolkata, October 25: Encouraged by its success in Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections where it secured five seats, Trinamool Congress today said it would contest the forthcoming Jharkhand polls.
“We fought the Arunachal Pradesh elections alone, but we are ready to enter into seat-sharing agreement with parties like Congress and JMM in Jharkhand,” Trinamool Congress leader and union minister Mukul Roy told.
However, in the absence of any respectable seat-sharing formula, TC would go it alone, he said.
TC legislature party in Arunachal would decide whether it would sit in the opposition or support the Congress government there, he said.
Trinamool had roped in some Congress dissidents to contest the Arunachal polls. The party registered its first presence in a legislative assembly outside West Bengal, through the triumph in the north-eastern state.
The five-phase assembly election in the state will begin on November 27.
