Now travel to Uzbekistan without visa

Hyderabad: Uzbekistan will lift visa restrictions for citizens from India in a bid to boost foreign tourism and increase co-operation. GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan on Friday met Farhod ARZIEV – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of India.

E-visa facility has already been made available to tourists visiting Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan had good diplomatic relations with India for the past few decades. The Sister City deal with Hyderabad and Bukhara, 2,500-year-old city of Uzbekistan is expected to be signed soon,” Farhod said.

As per the sister agreement, the cities extend co-operation in education, culture, business, spices, tourism, heritage, med- icine. Uzbek has an agreement with Gujarat in Pharma sector.

The country signed sister city agreement with Agra with its city Samarkand.

Hyderabad and Bukhara is second such agreement. Bukhara was a prominent stop on the Silk Road trade route between the East and the West and a major medieval center for Islamic theology and culture “We are inviting the film industry in Hyderabad to Uzbekistan and there are many attractions, historical and tourist destinations,” he added.

Many students from Uzbekistan are studying in Osmania and Central Universities in Hyderabad, he further said.
